Asus MeMO Pad Smart 10 Troubleshooting
Tablet Won’t Turn ON
The tablet is not indicating it has power.
Faulty Power Adapter
Check to make sure the power adapter is plugged in. If the power adapter is plugged in correctly, the tablet will indicate it is getting power by displaying it on the screen. If there is no sign of this, you may want to consider purchasing a replacement.
Faulty Battery
Check the manual or starter guide for the tablet to find the recommended charging time. Use the power adapter to charge the tablet. If the tablet is only functional while plugged in, the battery is faulty. If this is the case, you may want to consider purchasing a replacement.
Faulty Power Button
If the tablet is indicating the battery has a charge and the power adapter is capable of charging the battery but it won’t turn on, you may have an issue with the power button. First try to hold down the power button for a full 60 seconds, this is called a hard restart. If the tablet does not show any sign of restarting the power button may be aligned improperly, stuck in the down position, or broken internally. If this is the case you may want to contact the company or follow our guide on how to fix it!
Frozen Screen
Screen Frozen After Device Booted Properly
If the device’s screen is frozen on an app or the home screen after the device has booted up properly, then this means there was an error in normal operations with the device that the device was unable to recover from.
To remediate this issue, try pressing and holding the power button for ten (10) seconds. After the button has been held for this long, the device should shut down. After that, turn the device back on and it should operate normally.
If pressing and holding the button down does not work, please wait for the device to turn off due to loss of power. After that, charge the device back up and turn it on.
Screen Frozen During Boot
If the device’s screen is frozen on the boot logo, this means there was an error in the device’s attempt to turn on that the device was unable to recover from.
To re-mediate this issue, try pressing and holding the power button for ten (10) seconds. After the button has been held for this long, the device should shut down. After that, turn the device back on and it should operate normally.
If pressing and holding the button down does not work, please wait for the device to turn off due to loss of power. After that, charge the device back up and turn it on.
If the device freezes on the boot screen again upon turning it back on, this means there is an issue with the device firmware.
To fix this, press and hold both the volume down button and the power button simultaneously. This will bring you to the “boot-loader”. If this does not work for you, then the motherboard is faulty and you will need to replace the tablet.
If it does work, then you will need to reinstall the firmware on the tablet.
A Cracked Screen
Check to make sure it still turns on
Try to turn on the device to insure that nothing else is broken. restarting the device will show you whether it still works or will not work when attempted to be turned on. If it does not turn on it may be more than just a broken screen. Follow Next steps if it does come on
Check to Insure That the Rest of the Tablet is Okay
Inspect the tablet, see if anything more than just the screen is broken or damaged. check to make sure the screen is still sealed to the tablet and also make sure that there are no chips, or chunks out of the tablet, also check to see if there is any internals exposed that could possibly cause further damage. if not the tablet may be fixable and able to save.
Check to Insure That the Tablet Still Responds
Check the tablet to make sure that it still responds. not only should it still be able to turn on like i said above but it should be able to function when you either press a button or try to touch it somewhere. if not the digitizer may be broken, follow the next steps for more info if this does not solve the issue.
Tablet Digitizer Will Not Respond
Frozen Screen
A frozen screen will not always mean a broken digitizer. but if the screen does not respond, try to restart the device. if the screen still does not respond this could be a significant first sign to show you that the screen’s digitizer is broken. A broken digitizer can come from it being dropped or having water damage and other small problems that have happened. if the screen is suspected to be frozen follow the Frozen Screen Troubleshoot for solutions.
Check to See if Buttons Will Make Anything Happen
Checking the buttons of an unresponsive screen is a great way to indicate if the tablet is just frozen or the digitizer itself is broken. If the screen is unresponsive and will not do anything to the touch of a finger, and you can either put the screen to sleep or change the volume, you may have a broken digitizer.
Digitizer Will Need to be Replaced
If these steps show you that the digitizer may be the source of the problem, it will need to be replaced. follow these steps and try to see if the screen will respond to your finger, if the buttons still work and the device powers on and off but will not let you do anything with the touch of a finger, it may need to be changed. this may have came from dropping the device and smashing the screen or damaging the digitizer.
SD Card Troubleshooting
Faulty Installation
When the SD card isn’t reading the first thing to check is if the card is inserted with the right orientation. Usually when placing the card into the slot you should hear a click; if you don’t then you probably inserted it in the wrong direction. Take out the card and try putting in in the right direction.
Faulty SD Card
If the card still isn’t reading then the next thing to try, is to see if the card is broken by testing it on another device if possible. If the card works on another device then try re-inserting in your device and reboot the tablet. If the card still isn’t read check the size of the card and make sure it’s the right size. Also when buying SD cards sometimes you can run into issues where the card you bought is fake and not what it says it is. You can scan the card to see if it’s actually as large as it is. Usually the problem can be fixed by just buying another SD card.
Faulty SD Card Reader
Once you buy another SD card and you know the card works but it still isn’t reading then you are probably going to have to get a new SD card reader and install that into your tablet.
Camera Troubleshooting
Frozen Camera
When you have a camera on this device that is stuck on one screen and isn’t moving as you move the tablet then you have a frozen camera screen. To try to get rid of this you can always power down the tablet and reboot it. Then go back to your camera and see if it is un-frozen. The first time might not work, so try it at least 3 times. If the camera is still stuck then the camera could be broken and will need to be replaced.
Green Streaks
For the green streak issue when opening the camera app on the tablet, you can always try to reboot the system by powering down the device. If this doesn't work then do a system reset in the setting of the tablet.
Cracked Lens
If the camera lens has a crack in it then you know for sure then there is no other way around this problem than replacing the camera itself.

thanks for the detailed information. i replaced the battery as well as re-soldered a new charging port onto the k001 with no success of producing an image onto the screen. my multimeter indicates that the battery is producing adequate voltage yet no sign of life . im leaning towards a power management issue being the culprit currently, unless there is another trick to restoring power to the board that im not aware of. any further information regarding my particular matter would be appreciated.
