Back Cover is Damaged
The back cover of the camera appears to be loose or shows signs of damage.
Warped Back Cover
Turn the camera around so the back is facing you. Undo the clasp on the right side. Take off the back cover and rotate it forward so you can see the bottom edge. If the shape of the cover from this angle is asymmetrical, then the back cover is warped. Replace the back cover using this guide.
Clasp Doesn't Fasten
If the back cover won't stay on the camera, turn the camera around so the back is facing you. Push the left side of the back cover into place, and then push the right side into place. Make sure the clasp on the right side is properly engaged by pushing it upwards. If the clasp fails to click and hold the back cover onto the camera, then the clasp may be damaged. Consider purchasing a replacement clasp.
Rewind/Wind Dials Turning Improperly
The dials do not turn correctly or have become loose from use.
Dials Won't Turn
Turn the camera so the top is facing you. While holding it in one hand, use one of your fingers from the other hand to attempt to rotate the dials. If the dials wobble when you turn them or they won't turn at all, they may need adjusting or replacing. Use this guide to uninstall and reinstall the dials for adjusting or replacing.
Dials are Visibly Damaged
Turn the camera so the top is facing you. One of the dials should say "REWIND" and the other should say "WIND." Both dials should be black. If the text is unreadable or the dials are discolored, you may want to consider replacing them with this guide.
Image Through Lens is Unclear
"When looking through the viewfinder, the image is hazy or cracked."
Lens is Dirty
Turn the camera so the front is facing you. In the very middle of the front lens assembly is a glass circle, the lens. If the lens is visibly dirty, you may need to remove it for cleaning. Learn how to uninstall and reinstall the lens with this guide.

Image Through Beamsplitter is Unclear

Beamsplitter is Dirty
Turn the camera so the back is facing you. In the upper left corner of the camera is a metal rectangle. Bring the camera towards your face so you can look through the rectangle. Beamsplitter is Cracked or Broken
Turn the camera so the back is facing you. In the upper left corner of the camera is a metal rectangle. Bring the camera towards your face so you can look through the rectangle. If there is a crack in the image, then the beamsplitter may be cracked. You can replace it using this guide.
Camera Shutter Engages Improperly
When taking photos the shutter may fail to open properly, or may prematurely open.
Shutter Fails to Open Properly
Turn the camera so the back is facing you. While holding the camera in your left hand, bring your right hand to the front of the camera. Locate the cylindrical metal piece on the upper left of the front lens assembly. Use your index finger to pull the piece to the right until it clicks in place. Locate the flat metal piece on the upper right of the front lens assembly. Push it downwards. You should hear a clicking sound, and the cylindrical metal piece should return to its original place on the upper left of the front lens assembly. If it doesn't move, the shutter is failing to open properly. You can use this guide to uninstall and reinstall the shutter spring for cleaning or replacing.
Shutter Opens Prematurely
Turn the camera so the back is facing you. While holding the camera in your left hand, bring your right hand to the front of the camera. Locate the cylindrical metal piece on the upper left of the front lens assembly. Use your index finger to pull the piece to the right until it clicks in place. If it fails to click in place and remain on the upper right of the front lens assembly, then the shutter is opening prematurely. You can use this guide to uninstall and reinstall the shutter spring for cleaning or replacing.
