pump just hums
i have a summer escape pool and the pump just hums what can i do to fix it

KATHY, there are a few possibilities. Chance of a bad motor start capacitor ( use a multimeter or capacitance meter to check that) a seized pump motor (unplug the pump and see if you can turn the impeller by hand) or a short on the start winding of your motor. We could possibly give you a bit better info if we would know what make and model your pump is. Hope this helps, good luck.

The pump has a tiny plastic fan blade which moves the water thru the pump the blades in your fan are broke replace the punk
bang on the motor with a hickory stick, it that doesn't start it, it is the capacitor, replace or bearings, then have to replace the dry end or motor. 35 years in Biz
Most likely is a bad pump motor start capacitor
