The 4 function diamond machine is over heating when using the microderm attachment. There's a small black metal piece in the machine that's getting very hot and begins to smell.

It sounds as though the unit is clogged. Have you replaced any of the filters in the suction hoses? Another issue might be that the interior fan had collected hair and debris, slowing down the speed of the fan.
