The Sennheiser RS 120 is an RF wireless headphone system with open, supra-aural headphones.

One headphone does not work

I only listen to the tv in mono with one headphone, not in stereo with both headphones. I already checked the electrical connection between both headphones. I changed also the battery, but still the same. Any idea what is wrong and how to fix it will be higly appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

Have you plugged the headphones base station into another audio device (even a mobile phone to listen to music) to prove that the stereo is / is not working? It may be that the TV is not giving a stereo output, if so check if the TV has Volume 'balance' controls in its' audio settings, maybe 1 (L or R) channel is turned down. Have you tried a different stereo audio cable to connect between the TV and the headphones base station?

Thanks for your ideas jayeff! I plugged the base station to a stereo radio set and it also failed. I plugged other headphones to tv set and the stero signal was there. So I'll pick up a different stereo cable to test it again.

Hi,

If it still doesn't work with a new stereo audio cable it could be either a faulty stereo socket, a wiring fault or a audio channel path fault in the base unit. in any event the base unit would have to be opened to be inspected and tested.

I am having the same problem! Still not found any solution yet!

The same problem: one headphone does not work. Remains in mono mode even when I connect to another device. Mono speaker is perfect. The other speaker gives very very low voice volume. Will cleaning the balance knob with isopropanol help?

Spray contact cleaner onto volume control and run volume control back and forth several times, which should fix your problem.

I spread it onto the volume control ... without good result. Anyway thanks a lot for your advice. I fixed an old radio using your trick.

Thanks a lot! It worked for my old Sennheiser which I thought was waste already.

In my experience, with cheap to mid-range headphones, the loss of sound in one ear almost always is the result of bad connection where the cable is joined to the plug. This is especially the case with headphones that stick straight out from the jack as opposed the ones that make a right angle.
