Released 1993, identified by word TI-82 labeled on upper right corner of the screen.

Screen fading. What do I do?

There is a line down the right side that cuts the answer off. How can I fix it?

Oh no! That sounds bad. Here, I don't have a Texas instrument calculator, but I can give you some tips! :)

1: Please check the volts on both the battery and the display, if they look fine, go to step 2.

2: Look for any damaged or misplaced cables. Sometimes they can cause a problem, oh and look for loose screws too.

3: If it still dosn't work, it might be a circuit board problem. There's not much you could do with that. We could buy another one on ebay, here's one I found. TEXAS INSTRUMENTS TI-82 PERFECTLY WORKING SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR

Thank you for your patience! :D

@joilet This is a 8 year old question but somehow it popped up on the list. I am certain by now you either have it fixed or have a new calculator. Anyhow, this "line down the right side" and the fact that it is fading points to a bad display or corroded display adapter. Use something like this video to resolder the ribbon cable. If that does not work you may have to replace the screen. There are different versions for the screen, so you will have to get the LCD number from the current display since it will be specific to your calculator.
