A followup to the LG V10 smartphone, similar to the LG G5, released on September 29, 2016. The LG V20 can be distinguished by the model numbers F800, H910, H918, H990 DS Dual, H990N Dual, H990T, LS997, US996, and VS995. It is available in titan, pink, or silver with 32/64 GB of storage.

USB C port replacement

What is involved in replacing a damaged UCB-C port on the LG V20? Actually, I could ask a similar question for my iPhone 6S Lightning port. It's been pointed out that one advantage to "wireless" charging is the reduction of wear on power sockets. With daily use, that would be around 700 plug ins over a two year period, so wonder if this comes up often as an issue, and if so, how to replace a damaged power port.

It can in fact be removed and replaced, but you definitely need a hot air rework station, in my opinion. I did find a YouTube video by a very talented person who was able to do it without a hot air rework station. The video is very well done, and I only wish I had his talent and steady hands.

I took an old broken LG V20 logic board and was successfully able to remove the connector without damaging the board using my rework station. However, due to the heat, the connector that was removed did not survive. The board was fine, and no other SMD parts were moved or appeared damaged. I know that you can purchase the connector itself on Ebay. Be aware that it has both surface mount pins and 6 thru hole pins as well.
