My speaker/microphone is muffled

Regretfully, I placed my bottle of shampoo loosely in the same bag as my camera, which was soon coated in shampoo. The camera works fine, but the sound is very muffled when I record/play a video. Should I disassemble and try to clean anything I can? Could the mic be completely ruined and need a replacement?
