The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 was released March, 2008. It is the third camera in the TZ series, with a 3.0 inch viewing screen, 28-280 lens (10x optical zoom) and 9.1 megapixels. The TZ5 also has 720p HD video recording.

Camera will not turn on.

The battery is fully charged. (I tested two different batteries.) When I slide the on button, nothing happens. I've cleaned the contacts with alcohohol, with no change.

What's the next step?

Update

Thanks for your input. After cleaning the contacts and switching batteries again I got it to work. I checked with a multimeter and the one battery was a little low. So maybe, that threw me off.

brilliant. glad you didn't have to tear the whole camera apart! we've all had bad batteries make our gadgets fail, but it's better than replacing expensive parts.

Thank you very much!! Alcohol worked so beauifully!! For people who are not familiar, the contacts are the metal points of the battery that make contact with the camera unit. A gentle application of alcohol with a Q tip did the magic!!

try taking a look at this guide it may be the i/o board which apparently you can replace.. you could try testing the battery contacts with a multimeter to check that you have a circuit

+ just because the battery does have a charge does not mean it gets to the camera. Time for the multimeter...
