My laptop flickers and them dims, when I move the screen up or down it stops flickering. Also, when I press on the screen the flickering stops. Sometimes, when I turn on the laptop the display does not come on and I have to manually shut it down, close it and then open it again for the display to come on. Any suggestions? or reasons why this is happening?

Since it does flicker and you get different results when you move the screen up/down, my first suggestion would be to look at the Display Panel Cable. I would think that it is either loose, or that it is internally broken and only makes intermittent contact. Here is the manual, and not a bad job. See if that will help you. Good Luck

This absolutely an hardware level issue which is sometime cause by lcd to motherboard connecting cable. It better if you take it some hardware shop and get it carefully replaced or follow the YouTube tutorials to fix it by yourself by ordering online the replacement cable.
