Power LED blinks white and orange

This is the second machine I've seen in a week with the same problem, or at least very similar.

The one on my bench presently is an Elitebook 850 G8, the one I replaced a system board on was an Elitebook 845 G7. As soon as any type of power is connected, either battery or AC adapter, the charger LED will turn on white, but blink amber simultaneously. I believe it blinks 10 times. I have been unable to find any documentation for this specific error. This persists even if I remove connections from the system board to any other hardware aside from whichever power I am connecting. Even trying to power on with no RAM gives this error, will not beep/blink to indicate the system does not detect RAM. I do not even need to indicate power on for this to occur. As soon as there is enough contact with whichever connector to transmit the necessary power, it starts.

I have even tried running a BIOS recovery to no avail. This 850 G8 on my bench seems as though it will try to power, keyboard backlight will come up, Caps lock LED will light steady, no blink codes. It's under warranty, so ultimately it's probably going to get a new system board, but I want to know what this error is.

If Caps Lock lights I think you got further than me. Caps Lock lights up solidly? Or it blinks?

In case anyone else stumbles across this. This sequence of blinks signifies the device is shutting down/ powering off. I ended up trying a different charger, as well as attempting to charge through thunderbolt, which gave slightly different behavior. Seemed as though it was charging (would give a solid orange light for a few seconds) and then give this set of blinks again.

I was unable to find the exact fault in this case, I have much less experience with PC board troubleshooting, but since the unit was under warranty I replaced the system board, which resolved the issue.

Any updates on how it got fixed?

@talhaimtiaz This unit was under warranty and I replaced the system board which resolved the problem. Even under warranty, system board replacement is usually a last resort. I typically try to be sure that's the issue before I go that route, and on this repair I ran out of options.

If it had not been under warranty, I likely would have done some deeper digging. Especially since I determined it was a power related issue.
