Install new battery without gluing.

I replaced my decade old MacBook Pro battery with battery purchased from iFixit. It was quite a painful process: 1. disassemble the entire logic board, 2. clean up the old adhesive residue (most painful part...) and 3. I accidentally broke off the backplate of the trackpad too...

I am planing to use the MacBook as a web server, so it might be harsh for the battery and I might need to replace it again. So when I put on my new battery, I decided to use some corn starch to make the adhesive on the new battery to lose their adhesiveness, this way if I ever want to remove the battery, I don't have to do the whole thing again.

Because I am using it as a server there is no moving around. Also I am planning to put some thermal pads between the battery and the case which should help both make battery cooler and hold the battery in place if I ever need to move it.

Does this sound like a good idea, are there caveats I didn't think of?

Mmm… I wouldn’t have used corn starch. It took Apple way to long to address how they attach the battery in the retina models with very sticky adhesive! Today Apple uses an industrial version of 3M Command Release tabs which I’ve been using for years when replacing batteries! I use the large size strips.

So much easier! And in your case not food for critters!
