Series of HP Pavilion laptops released in 2015. The 15-p is more difficult to service then later 15-x models.

Hi @cesar30426

According to the parts list on p.28, Item #5 of the maintenance and service guide for the laptop series, taken from this support webpage for your laptop model there is a Broadcom BCM 4352 WLAN 802.11 AC+BT4 2x2HMC WLAN module i.e. dual band 2.4GHz & 5GHz WiFi + BT4 part # 724935-005 that is used with AMD CPUs. (supplier example only).

HP doesn't supply any drivers for it on the driver support page for your exact model so hopefully if it installs OK, it will work in your laptop, using generic Windows drivers or you may have to search online for compatible HP Win10 drivers for the Broadcom BCM 4352 chip.

Go to p.96 in the maintenance guide to view the procedure to remove/replace the WLAN module.

Given the cost of the module shown in the example maybe worth trying

It's the antennas you need to watch out for. If it's a 1x1 antenna set, you need those too. AS LONG AS IT'S THE HP PART, no issues with the WLAN WL.

I open the laptop and only has 1 antenna, it's possible to change the wifi card for this?

@cesar30426

No you need two antennas for any dual WiFi card to work.

Best thing I can think of is to get the antennas (search for 762518-001) and then disassemble the display panel (start on p.90 of the manual) and at p.96 it shows how to remove the antennas (yours will only be one antenna) so that you can install the new two antennas (item #1) as shown in the removal process

@jayeff thanks for your help, I'm thinking about this, is it posible to change this mainboard?? for other like intel i7 processor for example, how i can read in the manual, and get the antennas but with other wifi card... Am i crazy? 😂

All the part numbers for the various boards etc are in the manual if you want to do this.

Depends how much you choose to spend on it I suppose.

Good question, I have a HP 15-p and was going to do the same, the wireless on 2.4GHz is pretty woeful on these.

So it seems like you can put in a Intel Dual-Band AC7260 + BT card, however this requires two antennae. Your laptop probably only has one.

However, from what I've seen, there is a bit of dead space inside the laptop between the motherboard and the DVD drive. You can mount a second antenna there (making sure not to touch the antenna with anything else) which will allow the use of the dual band wireless card, and it doesn't mean ripping the entire display apart as well. Of course, you have to make sure the part number is that of a HP wireless card, not a generic one.

I will be trying this out myself soon as I need to upgrade my 15-p189na.

Did this to my own HP 15-P series laptop (P189NA) and it worked without any issues. I used the dead-space near the DVD drive to mount the second antenna, for the 5GHz.

Whilst I was there I upgraded the RAM, cleaned the fan, redone the thermal grease, and changed the HDD to an SSD.

Yes, you can upgrade your HP Pavilion 15-p002la to a 5 GHz Wi-Fi adapter. The current Realtek RTL8723BE adapter only supports 2.4 GHz, but you can replace it with a dual-band adapter that supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. A compatible option would be the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 or similar. Just make sure to check your laptop’s service manual for any specific requirements or restrictions, such as a whitelist of compatible Wi-Fi cards, before purchasing the new adapter.

Great advice. The 7260 is a great wireless card that offers both wireless-AC and Bluetooth. The only thing I would also say is, check the wireless antennae configuration in the laptop. Many budget HP laptops only have a single antenna, and you will therefore need to add a second.

With HP 15-p series laptops you can cheat somewhat by making use of empty space between the motherboard and DVD drive to mount a second antenna. Other laptops may make you disassemble the display assembly to fit another antenna.
