Do you know there is wifi signal in the area and other devices are able to see it and connect to it while near to the laptop?

What is the operating system?

Is the airplane mode turned off?

Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

1. **Check Wi-Fi Connection**:

- Make sure the Wi-Fi on your HP Pavilion is turned on. Look for a physical switch on the side or front of the laptop, or use the keyboard shortcut (often Fn + F12 or similar) to toggle Wi-Fi.

2. **Restart Your Laptop**:

- Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Restart your laptop and see if the Wi-Fi starts working again.

3. **Check Router and Modem**:

- Ensure that your router and modem are on and working properly. Sometimes the issue could be with your internet service provider (ISP) or the router itself.

4. **Update Wi-Fi Drivers**:

- Go to the Device Manager (you can search for it in the Start menu), find your Wi-Fi adapter under Network adapters, right-click it, and select "Update driver." Follow the prompts to update the driver software.

5. **Reset TCP/IP Stack**:

- Open Command Prompt as Administrator (search for cmd, right-click, and select "Run as administrator").

- Type the following commands one by one and press Enter after each:

```
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
```

- Restart your computer after running these commands.

6. **Check for Windows Updates**:

- Sometimes updates can fix connectivity issues. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.

7. **Perform a System Restore** (if necessary):

- If this problem started recently and you can't find a solution, you might consider restoring your computer to a previous point where the Wi-Fi was working. Search for "System Restore" in the Start menu to find the tool.

If these steps don't resolve the issue, it might be worth contacting HP support or your ISP for further assistance.
