The Nikon D3X is a 24.4-megapixel professional-grade full-frame digital single-lens reflex camera (DSLR) released by the Nikon Corporation in December 2008.

Clock battery on D3x

I recently bought a second hand D3x, Im very happy with it. I read somewhere (?) that I may need to replace my clock battery. This makes sense to me as every time I take the battery out to recharge, it resets to 2007 and resets the counter. Where is the clock battery on this camera and is it something I can replace myself?

If I recall correctly they gave a battery type in the article, which I sensibly didn't write down.

I trust you can assist me with my current quest. Thank you in advance for being here in the first place.

The clock battery is located in the roof of the main camera battery compartment, concealed by a slide out cover. Its easy to locate and the battery in question you require is a CR1616 - 3 volt battery which are readily available.

I find they last a long time having only replaced them very occasionally on both the D3 and D3X

The Clock battery is a 1616 cell battery. It is found by removing the main battery and looking to the top of the battery chamber, here you will see a sliding cover which if you slide out of the chamber will reveal the battery. Nice simple one when you know
