Why is my speaker not working?

@sarahjulia56360 you are not telling us what you have already checked. Make sure that you check your audio with a headset as well as the normal handset speaker.
You always want to start with the basics. Press the "Volume Up" button. Tap the three dots (or the settings gear) on the volume slider and make sure the bars for Media, Ringtone, and Alarms are all turned up. Next make sure that you do not have the Do Not Disturb (DND) accidentally turned on. Swipe down from the top of your screen to open the Quick Settings panel. Check if "Do Not Disturb" was accidentally turned on. If so, turn it off. You also want to make sure that your phone is not routing the sounds through a Bluetooth connection. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn it off temporarily to test.
Next you want to make sure that this is not caused by a Third-part App that blocks access to your speaker. Place your phone in safe mode.
If the speaker works perfectly while in Safe Mode, a third party App is the issue. Restart the phone normally to exit Safe Mode, and uninstall any apps you downloaded right before the problem started. If none of this works you most likely do have a bad speaker. Since iFixit doesn't yet have a specific guide for that, use something like this video You see the speaker at 4:03 on the bottom left of the phone. Finding a replacement could prove a bit more challenging since those do not seem to be readily available.
While you work on your phone, take lots of pictures. Once you are done with it, take those pictures and create a guide for iFixit. That will help the next person that has the same issues with their phone. It's easy and fun to create these guides. https://ifixit.com/Guide/new The iFixit community will appreciate this.
