@jobelchinc94719 what's the make and model of your ice maker? There should be a metal shield on the back of the icemaker that list all the pertinent information of the machine. Post a picture of that with your question.

From what I can find on this R32 commercial ice machine (Model ICEBS01) an E6 error code points to a temperature sensor/thermistor malfunction on the control board circuit. The micro-controller triggers E6 when the circuit detects an open circuit (infinite resistance) or short circuit (0 ohms) from one of the probe lines.

Primary Causes & Diagnostics

Evaporator/Ice Thickness Sensor Fault: The probe clamped to the evaporator line or grid has shorted out or lost continuity due to thermal stress or moisture ingress.

Condenser Sensor Open/Short: The sensor monitoring coil temperature is failing, preventing the board from managing heat dissipation safely.

Wiring / Plug Corrosion: Damp conditions inside the cabinet causing corrosion or a loose connection at the PCB terminal block.

Control Board Processing Error: Corrupted logic readings or a damaged analog-to-digital converter pin on the main PCB.

Step-by-Step Isolation Process

Power Hard Reset

Disconnect the main plug, wait 5 minutes for the onboard capacitors to discharge, and power back on to verify if it's a transient glitch.

Inspect Harness Connections

Access the main PCB behind the service panel.

Locate the multi-pin sensor connectors (typically labeled NTC1, NTC2, TEMP, or T_EVAP).

Unplug and check for moisture, green oxidation, or bent pins.

Multimeter Resistance Check (Ohm Testing)

Disconnect the thermistor leads from the board.

Set your multimeter to ohms/resistance and measure across the sensor leads.

Normal reading: Typically around 5 K Ohms to 10K ohms at room temperature (77°F/ 25°F).

Faulty reading: 0 ohms (short circuit) or OL (open wire) indicates a dead sensor that needs replacement.

Replace Sensor or PCB

If thermistor resistance is within spec, the fault lies in the main control board's input circuit, requiring a PCB swap.
