This online repair manual refers to it as an "inhibitor switch", but I believe this is what you're looking for.
Note that you didn't give us enough information to pin down the exact repair manual for your Outback, so I randomly selected a 2017 2.5i Limited model; feel free to backtrack to the Subaru page and follow the links to your particular model and year, but in general this should be correct for the 2.5l models; it might be different on the 3.6R versions.
