Troubleshooting

Background and Identification
The Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition was released by Microsoft on November 7, 2017. It features slight cosmetic differences from the standard Xbox One X, but the hardware is identical between the two versions. Both are capable of 4K visuals (available with only some games), Blu-ray playback, and Motion Control. The Xbox One X is backwards compatible with any games made for Xbox One consoles, as well as games made for the older Xbox 360 consoles.
There have been several generations of the Xbox One released by Microsoft, and distinguishing between them is important for a successful repair. The model type can be easily determined by the exterior features:
- The Xbox One S exterior is white, while the One X is black
- The One X only has a vent on its back panel, whereas the earlier models also have vents on the top face
- The device, with dimensions of 11.8 x 9.4 x 2.4 inches, is smaller in volume than previous Xbox One models, but it it weighs more (8.4 lbs in total)
- This special edition series, called “Project Scorpio,” is identifiable through its green labelling on the side of the console
Interior components of the Xbox One X Project Scorpio Edition are reportedly identical to the standard Xbox One X:
- 2.3GHz CPU
- 1TB hard drive
- 12GB RAM
