Proximity sensor fail after screen replacement?

Hi,

I recently replaced a digitiser and LCD in an iPad 4. The repair was successful - until a month later the client has came back to me and there's no display, it's responsive to iTunes so it is not dead. I can only think of the proximity sensor? It's just a black screen.

Where abouts is the proximity sensor located and is there anyway of just disabling it so the display can work again?

Thanks in advance.

It's not the proximity sensor.

Have you tried holding home and power button for 15 seconds and try turning on the iPad on again?

If you see apple logo again then nothing to worry about, just tell the customer if it happens again just hold home + power button for 10 seconds. Explain to them that the software crashed.

I would say loose LCD display cable on the iPad 4 but highly unlikely as it uses a black flex cable that is taped on.

I replaced the LCD after checking the cable was connected properly, and still a black screen. I've factory reset it and still hasn't resolved it..

Looks like the iPad has a board level issue most likely in the backlight circuit area. Micro-soldering work needs to be done on it in order to fix the problem.

The value of an iPad 4 might not make it worth fixing depending on the customer. (e.g blown backlight filter)
