Monitor not displaying correctly.

Just picked up a 31.5 inch monitor from AOC, the Q3279VWF to be exact and there's something up with the display. It only comes on when the monitor has force being applied downward on it. For example, if I have the monitor at a 90 degree straight vertical angle, the display may flicker on and off but will remain off mostly, though if I apply light pressure to the bottom bezel of the monitor, it comes on for as long as I hold it.

Sounds to me like a lose connection or something. I'm routing the audio out through the headphone jack and even when the display goes, the audio stays, so it's not the cable. Also when the display goes, the backlight stays, so It's not that.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

There is a ribbon cable located at the bottom of the monitor that may have come loose. I can't say that I have seen this in the past however. More likely, the solder connections for the connector have degraded a bit and require a re-flow. If you can solder, you should be able to resolve this by yourself. Carefully open up the unit (unplugged of course...) and look at both the ribbon cable and perhaps re-seat it as well as the solder connections for the connector itself.

Let us know what you find.

Hi,

You say that you “Just picked up a 31.5 inch monitor from AOC”.

The reviews for the monitor indicate that this is a fairly new monitor.

I suggest that you consult the manufacturer’s warranty statement (usually found in the User Guide) as to what to do to make a claim for a manufacturer’s warranty repair or replacement.

It appears that AOC have a 3 year warranty on their monitors. (hopefully in your location as well)
