My phone stalled out while doing an upgrade and now I cannot get the phone to go passed the logo screen. I have removed the battery and it takes 30 min for the logo screen to pop up. I cannot shut the phone off unless I remove the battery.

Sounds like you may have bricked your phone. Not to worry you can flash the software back on the phone. There are numerous guides on youtube for doing so. you can also reference the following guide
