When I try to record audio that is played not from the phone whether it be voice or music it comes in muffled and barely audible. But music that is from the speaker is fine. Also phone calls are fine.

What are loudspeaker (hands free mode) phone calls like? Can you be heard OK by the other person or are they also muffled?
Is the phone in a case that covers the two small microphone holes in the top edge of the phone?
The microphone at the top of the phone is used for loudspeaker calls, recording etc whilst the one at the bottom of the phone is used for normal type phone calls.
