HP monitor no input signal?

I have been donated it, didnt pay for it. As for menus I see them but there are green lines on the bottom of the screen when I open the menu. Navigating menu via buttons is doable but need to press them a bit harder than I would assume is normal. So only option left is installing new motherboard in the monitor?

Unless you can find a schematic of the motherboard (I couldn't), it will be very difficult to find the problem on the mainboard.

Of course it may be obvious if you look at the board, e.g. burnt out component or an IC with a crack in it etc.

May also be two problems if you need to press the buttons harder than normal. it may be dirty button contacts for example or it could be that by pressing harder, you're actually pressing longer and giving the mainboard time to recognize the signal.

If the monitor hasn't been used for a while, the contacts may have oxidized for example depending on how and where it was stored. Who knows.

@jayeff I am willing to purchase new mainboard and replace it myself since Ive gotten the monitor for free, but before doing that I want to be 100% sure it will work properly when I replace it. Any suggestions you have on what else can I chrck before proceeding to replace mainboard or are we 100% sure its a mainboard issue? My old monitor works normally connected to gpu, I have tried different cable ports on monitor snd same situation is on both so I would assume it can only be mainboard issue? Ill open the monitor when I come home fromwork and check it out. Seeing prices for new mainboard its around 30-40€?

I admit that it is a gamble, but looking at the disassembly guide there are only two boards in the monitor.

The monitor powers up OK and the screen turns on admittedly with green lines when viewing the menus, so the display seems to be mostly OK as does the power board.

I'm assuming that there's no green lines when just the no signal message, so at this stage when it happens when viewing the menus that it could be the mainboard or worst case the display itself, which can't be fixed.

Since the menu screens and the no signal message are visible but there's no video from an external input this proves that the mainboard is working or a part of it anyway i.e. between the board and the screen as the menus and the message come from the firmware stored on the mainboard.

As I said in my answer it is the input signal processing section that is not working i.e. the bit that effectively translates the digital signals from the computer into a video signal to the display.

Without a schematic it is difficult. If you get a board and it works you're in front

Navigating the menus might still be difficult but that's perhaps another problem. How often would you need to use them anyway, once it is setup to your satisfaction?

I have disassambled the monitor and found mainboard serial number and found it on ebay, but I think price is too much (40$ part plus 30$ shipping) which is 25% of price of new monitor. I guess lll just get rid of it
