-My advice: Don't take the mouse apart. It's not worth the effort. Just get disinfectant wipes and use lots of those to clean the mouse, including the little ball of course, very thoroughly, and the whole case and maybe the cable. Clean the underside too, but NOT the sensor or laser emitter. Use compressed air or a camera cleaning blower (they work very well) and blow out the dust on the optical parts. Use a Q-tip (that you fuzz up a little against your shirt) to remove more dust and grime, but no alcohol or any other chemicals. Use the blower or compressed air to remove the remaining dust. The mouse will probably be as good as new.
