The computer has stopped turning on, battery is dead

Hi
The battery was not working and I was only using the power cord. The computer hasn't been used in years and I recently turned on the computer and tried to go though the system and the screen went blue and now it wont turn on.
I can hear moment it the computer when I try to start it up by pushing the power button 5 or 6 times but it wont start do you have a suggestions?
This is the model apple ibook model m6497, 600/128/20g/dvd-cdrw.
