I just had the exact same problem only mine happened when battery was was low and counting down.

I was only 10' off the ground and  from what I understand satellites don't matter at that hight because it uses the lasers.

mine shut off completely and dropped from the sky. camera arm snapped and shell got a little deformed.

wtf happened to the fail safes built in.  $800 repair! This can't be pilot error.
