Did you disconnect the battery before removing and installing the LCD (see step 42 of this [guide|35706|guide])? Not disconnecting the battery can cause backlight circuit damage. This would require a micro-soldering repair.

It is also possible that the LCD is defective. Depending on how damaged your original LCD was, you could always try to put it back to see if it "works" like it did before the repair.
