Since you have a new cable, the cable shouldn’t be the problem.

Start with disconnecting the ribbon and look if a part of the old ribbon may have got stuck in the connector. Then connect the ribbon again by inserting it again and make sure it is all the way in without using that much force.

If this doesn’t help, a local repair professional should be able to replace the connector for you without it being extremely expensive, make sure to ask for how much they think it will cost before. (I'm not 100% how the connector looks, but it should be possible)
