I have the high pitched noise when plugged in, whether it’s running or not. It’s at the top end of my hearing. I’m guessing if I were 5 years older, I would no longer hear it.

My phone charger makes a similar noise.  It’s something to do with transformers/adaptors, and the super high frequency vibration caused by electromagnetic interactions inside the device.
