The firmware can be downloaded to an SD card and then reinstalled on a new A board but I'm not sure if this works if trying to install it back on the same board.
With other Panasonics I've worked on you can only upgrade the firmware with a later version and not using the same version as is already installed. Also the upgrade file may not be the full firmware file, only an update to overcome a known problem etc.
Here's the [document|31592|service manual] that may help. See p.13 ''Self Check'' and perhaps p.17 ''Service Tool Mode'' > ''Display of SOS History'' although this may be more applicable to a red standby light flashing which it isn't.
