As to what to use to pry it apart, guitar picks or even out of date credit cards can be used to pry it open or you can always get a set of [product|IF145-364|pry tools] from ifixit.
Try not to use metal tools, screwdrivers etc, so as to minimize any cosmetic damage to the monitor case
