Background

HP Chromebooks are manufactured by HP Inc. an American multinational information technology company based in Palo Alto, CA. They were one of the initial hardware partners for Chromebook development. Chromebooks are a laptop or tablet running a Linux-based Chrome OS as its operating system. They use the cloud to store most applications and data instead of the machine itself like a typical laptop would.

It wasn’t until 2013 that HP released their first Chromebook, a couple years after the first Chromebooks hit the market. They did release the HP Pavilion 14, the largest Chromebook on the market at the time however. The same year they released the Chromebook 11 and the HP Chromebook 14. They released updated versions of both lines the following year.

The 14 inch models come with a Nvidia Tegra K1 processor and the 11 inch model comes with the Intel processor.

They released several iterations of the 11 and 14 inch models over the years and in 2019 released a 15.6 inch Chromebook. The HP Chromebook 15 costs under $470, weighs under 4 pounds and has a full-HD display according to CNET. Released in 2020, the HP Chromebook 14, was one of the top Chromebooks of 2020 according to TechRadar.

Identification

HP Chromebooks are labelled with both the classic HP name and logo, as well as the circular Chrome logo and "Chromebook" designation. A sticker on the bottom of the device contains the serial and model number.
