It has the same shape as the clicking wheel PLUS that little bit that comes on the frame, which one see on that photo above. When it's broken, well, it no longer wires the motherboard to the frame. I'm not quite sure what problem occurs: I haven't tried reassembly my iPod with the broken tape.
Alright thank you. I am wondering because I have been working on getting an iPod to work and the clicker wheel refuses to work. If I hold down the menu/center button to reset, it resets. But when I fire it up normally, it does not recognize me using any of the buttons or trying to scroll with the wheel. I am running out of ideas to trouble shoot and I thought maybe it was that I broke the ground wire when I took it apart the first time.
This step is quite scary. The logic board (LB) that I received from iFixit had a broken ground tape: I had to peel the whole thing off my old LB, peel the broken one off the "new" LB and stick the old one on the new LB. Not quite easy, but I did it right.
Hey Jimbo, how can I tell if the ground tape is broken? And what problems occur if the ground tape is broken? Thanks
