My name is Alan Smith. I am a nontraditional student, having returned to college in my mid 30’s to pursue a better education. Technical communication is an important part of that education, which is why I chose it as my minor.

Prior to attending Eastern I completed an AAS degree in Restaurant and Foodservice Production. I’m currently a Psychology major with a TCOM minor, and the goal of attending grad school for a masters, although as of yet I don’t know where.

The majority of my work experience comes from approximately 14 years in the foodservice industry, although I only spent a year of that time in a normal restaurant. I worked on research vessels mostly, and then when that petered out, I ended up as a hospital cook.
