Slow charging/ battery is draining
Battery charging slowly/ losing charge very quickly
If the adaptor is plugged into the device and the light indicates the device is charging, make sure the adaptor is properly inserted in the device. If the laptop will only power on with the adaptor plugged into it, then the battery is faulty. To replace the battery, use this guide.
Keyboard/Keys Not Responding
The keys on the device will not respond or some pieces are missing.
Keys Are Stuck In Place
If the keys can’t be pressed and seem to be stuck, there may be something below the keyboard prohibiting movement. To fix this, remove the key that is stuck and check if there is something underneath it. After making sure the area is clean by using a can of compressed air, snap the key back into its original position.
Keys Are Missing If it is evident that some keys are missing, replace them.
Faulty Keyboard
If the entire keyboard will not respond, use this guide.
Not connecting to Wifi
Wifi is slow/not responding.
Bad Connection
Make sure your computer is connected to the internet. If not, connect it to an available wireless network.
Internet Provider
If your device is connected to the wifi, yet still has no internet access, try contacting your wifi provider. There may be a problem with the wifi around the neighborhood or a payment that has been missed.
Faulty Wireless Card
In case your internet provider is alright and your internet is connected, check the wireless card on the inside of your computer. You can find information on how to do that here, use this guide to replace it.
No sound from speakers
No audio/low sound quality
Obstructed speakers
Check the underside of the laptop, something could be in front of the speakers or inside of the computer itself. Any dust or liquids in the speaker system could impede progress. Clean the speakers with a brush or rag, and/or take a towel and dry it off. After cleaning out the speakers, try again and if it doesn’t work, you may have another problem from the list.
Blown out speakers
Open the underside of the computer and check for damages to the system. If you have confirmed that there is damage to the speakers, use this guide to replace it.
The computer is not charging
The computer charger is plugged in but doesn't charge the battery.
Check the outlet
If the computer isn't charging the first thing to check is to make sure the charger is plugged in correctly, if it is not then it might not be receiving a charge from the outlet. If it is plugged in correctly there may be an issue with the outlet, the easiest way is to use a different charger and device to see if the device powers on or charges.
Confirm the power adaptor is plugged into a power outlet and into your computer. Check to see if the charge light is lit. If the charge light isn’t lit and the adaptor is plugged in then the adapter is faulty. If this is the case then consider purchasing a new adapter and use this guide to replace the power adaptor.
Webcam Not Responding
Camera does not turn on with certain applications or in general.
Enable Camera Permissions
If the webcam is not responding, first make sure you’re giving apps camera permission. To do this open Settings and go to “Privacy and Security”. In “Privacy and Security” scroll down to “App permissions” and click on “Camera”. From this list enable what apps you want to be able to use the camera.
Activate Camera in BIOS
If the camera still isn’t working, check the status and enable it in BIOS. To get to BIOS turn on or restart your computer. At the Dell Logo screen repeatedly press the F2 key. In BIOS versions after 2021 the option should be under “Integrated Devices” and on versions before 2021 the option should be under “System Configuration”. Look for the Camera option and make sure to toggle on “Enable Camera”. If camera is still faulty then consider replacing it by using this guide.
