Computer Will Not Power On

The laptop will not respond or show any signs of powering up.

Laptop Not Plugged In

Make sure the laptop is plugged in and/ or the charger is connected, so that you can ensure the computer has a charge.

Faulty Battery

The battery may not be correctly connected to the laptop. If this is the case, the laptop will not charge and therefore not turn on. Check the repair guide for instructions on how to access the battery

Faulty Charger

The charger may be broken, in which case the system will not charge. Try following the repair guide to replace the charger.

Broken Trackpad

The mouse will not move or show any signs of moving.

Software Out Of Date

Out-of-date drivers can be checked by going to the Toshiba support page, searching for drivers by model number, and checking for driver updates. This can also be done in Windows by checking for system updates. This will check the web as well. Install any available updates.

If the above is not the issue driver interference could be the root cause if the problem started around the time you installed another input device like a wireless mouse. In this case, uninstalling the other driver from the 'installed program' list should fix the issue.

Trackpad Is Broken

If the trackpad is broken, it may need to be replaced. For this you will need a replacement trackpad and a screwdriver. Check the repair guide for instructions on how to replace it.

Keyboard is unresponsive

The keys on your keyboard won't respond or appear to be broken or missing

Keys Are Stuck In Place

The keyboard may have sticky keys due to debris build-up. Use compressed air to clean behind the keys or pop each key out individually to clean. Do this while the computer is off and unplugged.

Keys Are Off

Check that the keyboard is enabled under 'settings.'

Computer is overheating

The computer is saying that it is too hot or the computer feels hot to the touch

Fan Is Dirty

The fan may be dirty, blocking proper ventilation. Check the repair guide for instructions on accessing the fan.

Fan Is Covered

The fan may be blocked. Make sure there is no physical object covering the fan.

Faulty Fan

The fan may be broken or damaged, needing replacement. Follow the repair guide to replace the fan.

Laptop Always Running

Power down the laptop when not in use. If it is constantly running, that could be the cause of overheating.

Computer will not charge

Computer will not hold a charge when not connected to battery or dies quickly when unplugged

Charging Cord Not Plugged In

It is possible that the cord is disconnected. Check all connections with the laptop and with the wall.

Faulty Charger

The charger may be broken. Try replacing it. If this does not work, you may need to replace the battery.

Laptop Battery Faulty

If the laptop battery is the culprit, check the repair guide for instructions on how to replace it.
