DeWalt DC970 brush replacment
Can the brushes in the DC970 be replaced or are they part of the motor?

Since the motor is the same as for the DeWalt DW959 it most likely uses a brush box. Take a look on here for that. post some more pictiures of your motor etc. when you get to the disassembly, that way we can see what you see.
