The laptop power button will not respond when pressed and does not show any sign of powering up.

If the laptop is not powering on when you press the power button, try plugging the laptop in with the provided power adapter. If it will turn on while plugged in but not charge, the battery may be dead. Consider replacing the battery.

If the laptop will not turn on while the power adapter is plugged in or the light on the power adapter does not turn on while plugged in, the power adapter may be broken. Consider purchasing a new one.

If the laptop still does not power on after the power adapter and battery have been checked, there may be a problem with the motherboard.

Battery Saver is a battery saving power mode that turns off unused applications to save the battery’s charging power. To check if the power saver mode is turned off, go to “Settings” and click the “System” tab. Under this tab, you should see the “Battery Saver” toggle, which you can turn from Off to On.

If the brightness level for the screen is too high, the laptop’s power will drain faster. You can adjust the brightness by pressing down on the “Function key” on the keypad and pressing the downward arrow key on the keyboard to lower the screen’s brightness. If this does not work, you can check click on the computer’s “Settings” and select the “Display” tab. Under the “Brightness and Color” heading, you will find a slider that allows you to adjust the laptop screen’s brightness. Move it to the left to turn down the brightness and save the computer’s battery charge.

Try charging a familiar device with the same charging cord you used with the laptop to verify that it functions properly. If the cord cannot charge your other device, it is most likely faulty and a new one should be purchased.

Plug your laptop in using a charger that you know works. If the laptop still does not charge, this is a sign of a faulty battery and the battery needs to be replaced.

• Open the Start Menu.

Be careful to only uninstall apps that you have installed yourself as deleting important Windows applications may affect the Operating System.

Another solution may be to run the Disk Space Utility, which you can find by searching for it in the Start Menu tab. Using this program will help to delete unnecessary temporary files that are piling up on your Hard Drive. Follow the instructions within the program to safely remove any temporary files you may not need anymore.

If you have deleted all the unnecessary programs and are still out of hard drive space, you may need to install a larger Hard Drive into your laptop.

The keys on the keyboard will not respond or appear to be broken or missing.

When you cannot press down on the keys, there may be something below the physical key holding it up. To fix this, remove the key and make sure nothing is stuck below it. You may need to wipe off the area underneath. Once it is clean, snap the key back into position.

After some time of use computer will heat up more than it used to.

If you are using programs that use more RAM than your computer can handle, it may cause the computer to overheat because it is trying to keep up with everything running. To mitigate this issue, trying installing more RAM.

If the room where you are operating is above regular room temperature, this may mean the computer is getting is absorbing the heat and will heat up more than regular. To fix this, move the computer to a cooler area where it will not heat up.

Computer is slow to load programs or freezes while doing multiple tasks.

If you are attempting to run multiple programs at once, the computer may struggle to do things quickly and efficiently. It often results in the computer becoming unresponsive and may need to be restarted. To fix this issue, you could install more RAM. Doing this will give you more memory to work with and you should reduce the risk of your computer freezing.

If replacing the RAM does not solve the issue of your computer freezing, the processor may be getting too bogged down by the tasks. Replacing a computer’s processor can be difficult task. Only certain processors will work with certain motherboards so it is best to avoid replacing the processor. Instead, try not to have too many programs open and running at one time.

CD Drive is unresponsive or has physical damage to it.

If you recently uninstalled Microsoft Digital Image, this may be the cause for your problem. In order to fix this you must go onto the Microsoft webpage and find Microsoft Digital Image and install the program in order to get your CD Drive to work.
