I replaced the battery for my son’s 6S - he won’t take a new phone and he won’t have a phone without a headphone jack - happy to keep a warhorse on the playing field.

I decided to take out the taptic engine and it made it easier to pull the adhesive strips - plus it was only 2 little screws.

Does anyone know if the new ‘Battery Health’ percentage will return to 100% after replacing the battery with one purchased here? Is the feature solely dependent on hardware, or is there some sort of ‘memory’ in the software that displays the old health if the battery isn’t changed at an Apple store or authorized service center. Just wondering if I should take advantage of the $29 deal with Apple before the end of the year.

Okay, so the late 2015 (October) 1TB Fusion has a 24gb SSD and a 1TB HDD in combination - My understanding is that the earlier 1TB Fusion Drives were 128GB SSD + 1TB HDD - and were mounted separately. What I am not sure of is whether the tiny 24gb is mounted on the logic board like the larger ones, or mounted inside the larger disc like some of the Seagate SSHD hybrid drives. That is my first question.

As to the question of whether the sockets for SSD are still in place to add a SSD to the iMac units that only come with the larger HDD, I think that was answered yes above. Now about the iMacs that come with only small SSDs (256 or 512) is there an unused SATA connector on the logic board where you could add a SATA cable and install another disc (SSH or HDD)? I do know there are cables available if the socket is there.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a late 2015 unit and wonder whether I want to get one with the 1TB HDD and add two big SSDs or just pay the extra $500 to get the model with the 2TB Fusion?

I am going to replace the screen assembly with a replacement due to a cracked screen - there is nothing wrong with the home button. The new assembly came with a home button. I plan on exchanging the home button since my research here leads me to understand that unless I install the old home button into the new assembly, Touch ID will not operate. With this understood, as long as I install the new assembly with the original home button, I should have 100% functionality (provided I don't damage anything during the swap.)

Does this sound reasonable?
