Background
The Dell Precision 5550 released in 2020 is a mobile workstation designed for power offering high performance in three-dimensional (3D) design, video editing, and data analytics. This laptop was designed for people that are engineers, video editors, high volume of data, etc. It has an industry leading display, low blue-light, smart thermals that help intensive programs run smoother than ever, with an upgraded keyboard design and a larger touchpad creating more freedom.
In 2020, when released retail prices were over $2000 dollars now you can find used and refurbished ones in a range of $350-$900. While it is a high build laptop there was some common failures with the laptop as in thermal issues (overheating), touchpad instability, and DPC latency.
A lot of users, complain about the weight that it is so heavy, lack of build quality, and heat issues. The Dell Precision 5550 replaced the 5540, and is in the family of Precision is mid tier in its family.
Identification
The Dell Precision 5550 like other many Dell's can be identified by looking at the bottom of the laptop. Locate the service tag it might be identified with ST or Service Tag. Once you find it you can take the service tag to Dell's website and look it up.
The laptop color is gray, with a larger touchpad, and has a USB 3.2 Gen Type-C (Power Delivery), SD Card Slot, Universal Audio Port, Lock Slot, and (2) USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port with Thunderbolt 3 (Power Delivery)
