Background and Identification
The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 was released in August 2015 as the newest entry in the Galaxy Note series. The phone is sometimes referred to as a 'phablet' due to its large size approaching that of a tablet. The Note 4 is 6.03 inches by 3.00 inches.
It ships from the factory with the Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) operating system and is upgradeable to Android 7.0 (Marshmallow). The S-Pen, which is used for writing digitally, is housed in the phone.
Users have reported the S-Pen getting stuck in the phone if the pen is accidentally inserted backwards. Samsung has responded by fixing the issue in newer models of the Note 5. Unfortunately, there is no way to tell the difference between these models. If your S-Pen does get stuck, refer to the troubleshooting guide (link above).
The phone is labeled with the Samsung logo on both the front and back. The back side of the phone contains the camera and LED flash. The home button on the front of the phone is also a fingerprint scanner, used to unlock the phone.
Additional features of the phone include an IR blaster, Adaptive Fast Charging, Qi Wireless Charging, S-Pen and Heart Rate Sensor.
There are 6 U.S. variants of the Note 5 and 10 international versions. To find your model number, go to Settings > About, then you’ll see the model number.
